Bradbury Glade is an enchanting woodland Tipi wedding venue located in Sedgefield, County Durham. I shot my first wedding here in 2023 and it’s definitely my favourite new venue. I have only photographed two weddings at Bradbury (at the time of writing this), but the vibe and atmosphere it creates has me wanting to shoot here again as soon a possible… I’ve always been a huge fan of tipi weddings. The immersive festival like ambience they generate makes them great for wedding days and Bradbury Glade is no different.

An overview of Bradbury Glade – Tipi Wedding Venue

The venue is discovered in an opening engulfed within a woodland glade. It’s ‘surrounded by a 60-acre forest with the trees as your walls and the sky as your roof’. This venue feels like a hidden secret and you genuinely wouldn’t know it was there from the perimeter of the forest.

Located in County Durham, just a 20 minute drive from Durham, Darlington and Middlesborough, this place has the immersive feel of a woodland fantasy. You approach the venue from an inconspicuous car park and enter down a wooden path through a tunnel of trees. It has a rustic ceremony barn and 3 tipis separated only by a forest opening with a carpet of grass. A perfect area for lawn games, welcome drinks, canapés and mingling.

Described as ‘A fusion of festival-meets-luxurious vibes’ this is the perfect spot for a boho celebratory gathering like a wedding. The tipis can seat up to 150 guests, have an onsite bar and indoor fire pits for those chillier evenings and cosy campfire vibes. The interior of the tipi is adorned with thousands of fairy lights which creates the most magical ambience when the night draws in. It also makes one heck of a setting for a party!

In terms of the food on offer the venue has teamed up with the fantastic wedding catering team Canvas Catering. Whether it’s street food, sharing platters, BBQ or a three-course meal, they cater for all tastes. I’ve sampled the food on offer myself and it was absolutely incredible and suited the venue perfectly.

“One of my favourite things about Bradbury Glade is how you get all the freedom of a DIY wedding with all the luxuries and logistical benefits of a wedding venue”

The setting is the perfect blank canvas for a wedding and it’s absolutely beautiful as it is, but it also gives couples the freedom to put their own stamp on it. The ceremony barn and tipi can be styled however the couple want and the large open space outside provides a perfect space lawn games or any additional touches to keep guests entertained.

One fantastic feature of Bradbury is that they always give their couples access to the venue the day before the wedding. This gives them plenty of time to decorate and set up the venue exactly how they want it. They want the venue to feel like it’s yours and make sure there’s no rushing around setting up the venue on your wedding day.

My Bradbury Glade weddings so far….

The two weddings I’ve covered at Bradbury Glade were an absolute pleasure to photograph. The whole feeling of the place is incredible and this definitely transmits to the couple and their guests. I always find tipi weddings to have a great atmosphere and this is no exception.

The venue itself is great for wedding photographers. I’m a huge fan of woodland settings for couples portraits, so to be literally in the middle of a forrest was amazing. There’s also some industrial looking buildings and plenty of open fields close-by which are great options for photos. The wooden floored walkways, festoon lighting, Tipi backdrop and lush green forest provide plenty of photo opportunities and a real ‘vibe’ to the wedding photos.

One thing I notice from all photos I see from Bradbury Glade weddings is that everyone is always having fun. For me, the vibe of the place is its biggest asset and not every venue has this.

If you’re looking for a fun, laid back, immersive, festival like feel to your wedding you should definitely check out Bradbury Glade. This venue is featured in my list of Yorkshire weddings venues which you can check out by clicking here.
