As a North Yorkshire based wedding photographer I have so many amazing venues on my doorstep. What makes this even better is how unique they all are. From castles to barns, tipis to manor houses, warehouses to mansions, Yorkshire has a plethora of stunning venues to offer. Here you can find a list of some of the Yorkshire wedding venues which I work at most frequently.

A married couple portrait at a Yorkshire wedding venue Danby Castle

One of my favourite and most booked venues. I shot my first wedding at Danby Castle in 2016 and have loved it ever since. There’s something about Danby Castle which makes weddings there so unique. Danby weddings always have a relaxed and informal atmosphere which is always reflected by the couples.

This venue also boasts a lot of history. The iconic 14th century castle ruins and the North Yorkshire landscape in which it’s situated create the perfect location for photographs.

No Danby wedding is the same and the venues versatility makes this great to photograph. Ceremonies can take place indoors in the historic 16th century Court Room, the welcoming and rustic barn or even outdoors overlooking a stunning North Yorkshire valley.

From a wedding photography perspective Danby Castle is hard to beat. This venue is engulfed in stunning scenery which typifies Yorkshire. The ruins are a romantics dream and the indoor spaces all resonate a warmth which can be seen in the photographs.

Wray’s Barn at Whinstone View is a venue I’m always excited to photograph. Admittedly, I’ve only shot a handful of weddings here over the years but each one has been incredible. Similar to the atmosphere created at Danby Castle this place always has a buzz. Weddings are by nature immersive but this place seems to generate a vibe that is hard to describe. A collective happiness shared by all the guests for the couple which sets the tone for the most amazing celebrations!

The barn is nestled within a beautiful Yorkshire landscape and sits seamlessly alongside the venues bistro, luxury log cabins and spa. The log cabins provide the perfect accommodation for wedding guests and offer a unique setting for the bride to be and her bridesmaids to get ready in.

The barn itself is rustic, romantic and full of character. It is the perfect setting for a big family celebration. It also has its own private courtyard for outoor ceremonies, as well as a huge external veranda which is perfect for those alfresco summer drinks receptions.

For coupes portraits you are spoilt for choice. The grounds are always a lush green. A field just next to the venue offers the perfect scene for golden hour shots and the local landmark Roseberry Topping can be seen from just outside of the venue grounds.

Whinstone View is a venue which has everything in one package. If rustic barns are you vibe then I’d definitely check it out. Great accommodation options, stunning location, full of character, amazing food and they host one heck of a party… I’m not sure what it is but this place is bouncing every time.

Yorkshire wedding venue Wildwood and Eden's tipi

Wildwood & Eden is a tipi venue based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. I’ve shot quite a few weddings at this venue and they are always packed with energy and enthusiasm.

Ceremonies are held in the Wedding Barn at Wildwood & Eden. This is a unique ceremony room as the couple are married on a mezzanine with their guests seated below them, as well as on the same level in an adjacent room. The barn is a romantic, intimate & charming space which looks amazing when styled with any type of floristry. I love the precession down the stairs at the end of a ceremony here, it makes a nice change from the couple walking down the aisle.

The venue also has an indoor/outdoor bar called The Stables. This is a great space for guests to chill in before they enter the tipi for the wedding breakfast.

The wedding breakfast and evening reception are held in the main Tipi. This is two giant hat tipis which are joined together to create a space which can comfortably accommodate up to 136 guests. In my opinion the interior of these tipis are amazing as is, but when couples put their own stamp on them with floral installations and table decorations, it looks fantastic.

The venue is surrounded by acres of typical Yorkshire countryside which is the perfect backdrop for photos. It’s also just a few miles from the coast so if you want to mix up your couples shots you can easily go to the beach or cliffs.

I’m a huge fan of Tipi venues and this venue in particular. Wildwood & Eden is perfect for any couples looking to stamp their personalities on their wedding day. It offers something a little different and a little less formal and I can vouch for the fact that this makes for great weddings!

A Tipi Yorkshire wedding venue

Bradbury Glade was a new venue in 2023 for me and what a venue it is. I’m so pleased I got to cover two weddings here this year and can’t wait to do more.

A tipi wedding venue in the middle of a forest, literally a hidden gem. This place is right up my street, or down my neck of the woods should I say.

The Tipi is discovered in an opening engulfed with a woodland glade. It’s ‘surrounded by a 60-acre forest with the trees as your walls and the sky as your roof’. This venue feels like a secret and you genuinely wouldn’t know it was there from the perimeter of the forest.

Located in County Durham, this place has the feel of a fantasy. You approach the venue from an inconspicuous car park through a tunnel of trees. It has a rustic ceremony barn and 3 massive tipis separated only by an idyllic forest opening with a carpet of grass. A perfect area for lawn games, welcome drinks and canapes.

Described as ‘A fusion of festival-meets-luxurious vibes’ this is the perfect spot for a boho celebratory gathering like a wedding.

I’ve only covered two weddings at this venue but the atmosphere at each was incredible. Bradbury Glade offers the escapism of a woodland adventure with all the comforts and luxuries of a wedding day. It also offers and amazing party and a guaranteed packed dance floor!

The main castle of Yorkshire wedding venue Sneaton Castle in the sun

The chapel of a Yorkshire wedding venue Sneaton Castle

Sneaton Castle is based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, and is quite literally on my doorstep. I photograph a lot of weddings here and I still get excited every time I get a booking for this place.

Think beautiful, fairy tale, castle wedding and you have Sneaton Castle. This is a dream wedding venue with a majestic and enchanting aura about it.

Most Brides to be stay over the night before their big day and get ready in the stunning Dovecote Suite. This is the perfect place for bridal prep, offering ample space, light and luxury comforts.

The wedding ceremonies held in the chapel at this venue are so special. The Chapel is a spectacular space which has an almost magical feel to it. I often watch wedding guests enter the chapel and capture their reaction as they take it in with a gasp. I’ve photographed some beautiful ceremony spaces in my time as a photographer, but this one is hard to beat.

The lawns and gardens which sit behind the main castle offer endless opportunities for photographs. They’re also the perfect setting for welcome drinks and garden games when the sun is shining! One thing I love about the castle gardens is how seasonal they are and how much the colours change through the seasons.

The Wedding breakfast is served in another stunning space in the heart of the Castle. Wedding guests are guaranteed to be wowed as they enter the dining room through two gigantic castle doors. Everyone is always well and truly looked after at the castle and the food that is served is always as delicious as it is plentiful.

I’ve been to Sneaton Castle as both a wedding photographer and a wedding guest and it’s always an incredible experience. This venue ticks all the boxes and then some when it comes to enchanting, magical and fairytale wedding days.

The Yorkshire wedding venue Hackness grange in the rain

Hackness Grange is a beautiful Manor House venue situated amongst endless hills and broad-leaved woodland just outside of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. With 17-acres of stunning landscape to boast, it offers a perfectly secluded venue which is truly versatile.

I shot my first wedding at Hackness in 2017 and have seen it develop and evolve into an incredibly unique wedding venue. Couples can have their ceremony indoors in the beautiful Elizabeth Suite or outdoors on the enchanting island pictured below.

One of my favourite aspects about this venue has to be the island. Ceremonies on here are quite literally among the wilderness and the brides entrance over the bridge to the island is always a spectacle. The island is also great for a drinks receptions, particularly when the couple have some live music for their guests to enjoy.

It’s secluded location means that it is surrounded entirely by natural countryside which is perfect for the photographs. The elegant 19th century house evokes timeless photos and the seemingly endless North Yorkshire countryside is the perfect back drop for couples portraits.

Weddings here have exclusive use of the whole estate and there’s ample accommodation for wedding guests. It really is an all in one venue which prides itself on giving the couple and guests an amazing wedding experience.

The front of the Yorkshire wedding venue Rushpool Hall

Situated in North Yorkshire’s stunning landscapes, Rushpool Hall offers couples a lovely setting for their wedding celebration.

The hall boasts historic charm and scenic gardens, providing a beautiful backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. Its versatile spaces accommodate both intimate gatherings and larger festivities, allowing couples to tailor their day to their preferences.

Rushpool Hall is a venue which covers all parts of a wedding day, from bridal prep through to the party. Having the whole day at one location makes things so much easier for the couple, their guests and of course the photographer!

When photographing at this venue I’m always drawn to the manor house’s Victorian architecture. The iconic silhouette of this venue makes for gorgeous photos. It’s also surrounded by woodland so there’s always plenty of options for any couples portraits.

For couples seeking a charming venue amidst beautiful surroundings, Rushpool Hall provides an inviting space to create lasting memories on their special day.
